Everyday Toddlers: Playing Your Way To Reading

Lois Kagan Mingus and Joanie Fritz Zosike engage toddlers in movement, dance and song, employing evocative early literacy classics including All About You (Catherine and Lawrence Anholt), Bark, George (Jules Feiffer) and The Carrot Seed (Ruth Kraus). Lois and Joanie invite children to step into the imaginary pages of a book, using hand instruments and colorful props to re-create stories and captivate their imagination. Through the guided application of everyday play skills, “Playing Your Way to Reading” demonstrates to pre-readers how stories are made and prepares them to read, setting the foundation for building abilities as they mature.
